Hauner

Hauner

HAUNER - Hauner farm is located in Salina, a Mediterranean isle; it bears the name of its founder, Carlo Hauner, a painter from Brescia who came to the island in 1963, where he rediscovered and spread, bringing it to an international level, Malvasia wine: an after-dinner wine, obtained from wilted grapes, already appreciated in ancient times. At present, the company can count on vines extending over about 12 ha and on a modern winery with steel barrels and a cooling plant with a total capacity of 12,000 hl. The production, besides the famous Malvasia wine in the natural and raisin varieties, also comprises of an excellent Salina white wine and a full-bodied Salina red wine, for a total amount of about 90,000 bottles, and, since 1997, a surprising and unique white grappa, obtained from Malvasia wine marcs, is distilled in small quantities.
